What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- Construction incl. shutdowns (BCBCA). In a holiday week on a 4×10 where less than 40 h are worked, 16.01(d) pays 'all hours worked beyond 8 hours per day for each day worked within the short week' at the 16.01(a) overtime rates (2 h at time and a half, then double). The app still pays those days 10 h straight, so a Tue–Thu Thanksgiving week of 10s shows about $190 too little for a journeyperson.
- Construction, CLR members and independent contractors. In a holiday week on a 4×10 where less than 40 h are worked, 16.01(d) pays 'all hours worked beyond eight (8) hours per day for each day worked in the short week' at the 16.01(a) overtime rates (2 h at time and a half, then double). The app still pays those days 10 h straight, so a Tue–Thu Thanksgiving week of 10s shows about $190 too little for a journeyperson.
- Maintenance by contract (PRMC). An 8-h afternoon shift is owed 1 h, so ticking Night shift there pays one straight-time hour too much (about $55 for a journeyperson); and 10.600 pays the differential at straight time on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays too, which the app leaves out.
- Public infrastructure (BCIB Community Benefits Agreement). The table prints only the month for the Jun 2023, Nov 2023 and May 2025 steps; the app starts each on the 1st of the month (the Jul 2022 step is Jul 1, from the 2018 table, and the May 2024 step May 5).
- Public infrastructure (BCIB Community Benefits Agreement). The two floating holidays aren't marked (Tue Dec 29 and Wed Dec 30 2026): tick Stat holiday on them.
- Public infrastructure (BCIB Community Benefits Agreement). An afternoon shift's differential is ½ h, so ticking Night shift there shows about $32 too much for a journeyperson (7½ × $8.04 = $60.30 against $28.13).
Enter your own hours in the Boilermaker Cheque app: it applies these rates, the overtime and holiday rules, dues and tax, and keeps a year of cheques. Free for a month.
