What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- Construction (industrial, commercial and institutional). A break missed inside the double-time hours, or on a Friday, weekend or holiday, is owed at that rate (up to $13.81 more each at the journeyperson rate), and 7.09(c) does not apply to compressed weeks regularly scheduled past 10 h. Meals (7.10(a)): 'When employees are required to work extended daily hours in excess of 11 hours, the Employer shall be required, following the 10th hour, to provide a meal … One-half hour at the straight time rate of pay shall be allowed for the consumption of the meal.' So only a day of MORE than 11 h gets the meal and the paid half hour (the calculator adds it); a 10–11 h day gets neither, and on a compressed week the contractor has a one-hour extension with no hot meal or payment in lieu, with a paid 15-minute rest break at the 10th hour (7.12). On a day over 11 h a count also stands for the meal not provided, once that day: $50 'in lieu of the meal and the time to consume the meal' (7.10(b)) and no paid half hour. Nothing for the meal on an 11–12 h shift in camp with a meal at the end (7.10(c)): take the $50 off.
- Maintenance (NMA / GPMA). That paid meal half hour is not added to the day's hours (so the 12-h turnaround pays its 12 h exactly); on an ordinary overtime day where you took it, add ½ h to the day. On a day past the threshold a count also stands for the overtime meal not provided on unscheduled overtime (15.602 B), once that day: $40 plus a 15-minute rest break at the applicable rate (double past 10 h). Scheduled overtime (notice before the end of the previous shift, 15.602 A) and a turnaround shift carry no $40: take it off. No $40 on subsistence or camp days either (15.602, 15.700): the calculator drops it on days with living-out ticked. None of this applies inside a rotation shift (next rule but one).
- Maintenance (NMA / GPMA). 6% + 4% always; read the stub).
